Please note that we hope to continue to work with families to have registration complete by August. It is important to finalize as soon as possible so we are able to plan for students' best experience while maximizing learning. If by chance you are in a scenario where there is a final element you are waiting on such as the physical with all immunizations, we will work with you to finalize registration as long as we have an idea of when we might expect to receive any outlying component that might be keeping your family from completion.

Here is a great list of resources and ideas for families to help students keep their skills sharp. There are dedicated sections for Reading, Math, History, Science, and Visual Arts to guide you.

CSA will start its first debate team for the 2023-2024 school year! Students will learn the art of debating relevant and important topics, and prepare to participate in the English Speaking Union New York Debate League (ESU NYDL). Local competitions will be held once a month, on Saturdays, at various participating NYC schools. To prepare for these competitions, students will get together once or twice a week after school to research and practice their debates.

Although CSA provides the necessary school supplies, please keep in mind that students will need to bring two pencils and a pen with them each day. Lately, we’ve had some really great support from parents asking how they might still help and we welcome that! Below is a link and a QR code to an Amazon list of classroom-set items that will be directly in the hands of our learners.

All families are subscribed to a grade-level google group. This will help families begin to make connections with one another based on interests and location which can be of value if families would like to establish travel pools. Next month, our current community will be added to both the 7th and 8th grade groups.
Sign in to Google Groups with the same email you use to sign in to SchoolMint. Those that used a phone number can reach out to the main office with an email contact. Search for Google group to sign in with the email you provided then search for your group : At the top, click My groups and select All groups and messages.

Students will receive metrocards. This also relies upon complete registration. A metrocard for your student will be sent to our school once registration is complete which will allow us to finalize your student and request the metrocard in the NYC DOE system.
(If a child has mandated bussing on an IEP - please send an email to admissions@cityschoolofthearts.org.)

Here are some beautiful moments from our Co-Founders Dr. K, Ms. Q, and the Arts Team:
The Arts Team remains so proud of all that the students accomplished this past school year. In plays, showcases, musicals, recitals and special events, students displayed their creative skills in multiple ways and across many disciplines. Please enjoy these links which display our students' tremendous talent. Have a great summer!
For their final projects as 8th Grade Theater Majors, students were asked to reflect back on their time here at CSA and write a monologue from a moment when they were challenged creatively. This could have been about ANY creative endeavor - not just theater related. This moment should have been a little tough, a little hard to get through - but something that in the end made them a better artist. Enjoy!
